Detector Development

An order has been placed at SCIONIX B.V., Bunnik, NL to construct for EARTH four test cells, and fill two of them with a Boron loaded scintillation liquid. These test cells will be tested at iThemba LABS, South Africa to optimise the scintillation liquid for the 40 litre prototype detector GiZA (Geoneutrinos in ZA) at the end of 2008. The GiZA detector has been

optimised for light collection by ASTRON, Dwingeloo, NL. The order includes the mechanical design of the GiZA detector. This order has been made possible by an approved proposal to Stichting Sensor Universe foundation, Assen, NL.

Polyvation B.V., Groningen and EARTH have received approval Sensor Universe of their feasibility study to search for new material suitable for direction sensitive antineutrino detection.
